Country Visits
The UN Special Rapporteur visited Afghanistan from 4 to 15 May 2008. He gave a press conference in Kabul at the conclusion of his mission, and his press statement is available here. He reported on his visit to the May 2009 session of the UN Human Rights Council. His mission covered: suicide attacks, airstrikes, assassinations, killings at checkpoints or in raids, killings by police, honour killings, corruption and the criminal justice system, the death penalty, and civilian compensation programs.
